Buddy Mondlock is one of our country’s best songwriters. His approach is gentle and Zen-like, the songs unfurl like little movies and the listener is transported to some distant better place -- and isn’t that what music should be about?”
Ellis Paul
As acclaimed as he is as a songwriter, he is a fine performer who can create his share of magic with his high clear voice and inventive acoustic guitar.”

I have always loved Buddy’s songs, but when I was putting together the information for a sold out concert he did here, I realized I wanted to profile him for the blog right away. There were just so many songs I wanted to share with you.
The iTunes link only points to the two albums that Buddy has there, but if you click on his photo you’ll be taken to his web page where more of his CDs are available for purchase.
Buddy Mondlock writes songs. He does it so well that some great songwriters have recorded his songs for their own albums. Guy Clark, Nanci Griffith, Joan Baez, Janis Ian, and David Wilcox to name just a few. I always love hearing a songwriter do his own songs, and Buddy really draws you into his world when he sings his songs. He is SO worth listening to.
For a while Buddy toured with Art Garfunkel and Maia Sharp, and they did an album together that is spectacular. The first song on the playlist, Everything Waits to Be Noticed, was written by all three of them. How It Goes is a song about the end of a relationship. I first heard Buddy do it live in concert and it just knocked me out. Devastating. Perfect Moment is another song written with Garfunkel and Sharp that will take your breath away. The Kid may be Buddy’s best known song since it has been recorded by so many artists. My favorite song, written by Buddy with Janis Ian, is Tenderness. I included it on my album Stone by Stone.
From the finest mansion to the sparrow’s nest
Deep within, it all begins with tenderness
Yes, yes, yes.
The first video is of a great song called Magnolia Street that always makes me smile. The second video is older and shows Buddy singing with Nanci Griffith.
